Abstract

The article considers the Western Armenian refugees' problem in the irst Republic of Armenia (1918-1920). In solving this problem the Republican authorities should have taken into consideration its national-political features. To involve the Western Armenians in the creation of the national country they had to take certain measures to overcome fragmentation and integrate Western Armenian refugees.

Abstract

The paper studies the problem of the transformation of construction practice as regards the past of the nation-state in the second half of 18th - the first third of the 19th century. Comparative analysis of «grand narrative» texts on national past of the 18th century and the national-state narratives of the 19th century revealed the main lines showing the difference n historical description of the nation-state. The latter include readership, professionalizing of historiography, special focus on one's «own» nation-state, development of «the European canon», etc.

The article studies the main causes of food supply crisis as regards the population of the North Caucasus in the summer of 1930. It shows their influence on the formation of Soviet agrarian relations in the region. The author concludes that food supply challenges in the North Caucasus region began long before the famine of 1932-1933.

The article describes some aspects of the activities of the political police in the Russian Empire with secret agents in the twentieth century: ways of recruitment and rules for managing secret agents, composition and maintenance of secret agents. The article discusses the requirements for the heads of political police regarding the organization of work with secret agents, the amount of financing of regional political investigation agencies. The causes of inefficient investigative work of political police agencies in the early XX century and activities of the Police department to enhance the work with secret agents are analyzed.

Abstract

The article analyzes management elements which were introduced on the territory of the North Caucasus in the beginning of the XIX century in order to form the Russian self-consciousness at local population. The structures of judicial system served the purpose. They acquired mediator functions, established peaceful interaction of the local societies with Russian administrative institutes and promoted the inclusion of Caucasians in the legal area of the Empire.

The article examines the tragic finis of the great Russian poet M. Y. Lermontov, who spent some time in Karras before his death, as well as the history of the famous Karras colony which used to be a settlement first for Scottish missionaries, then for German gerngutters, who, with the consent of the Russian government, distributed Protestantism among the mountaineers of the North Caucasus.

Abstract

The article studies a complex set of different problems related to the systemic characteristic of regional migration policy undertaken by the Soviet leadership at the turn of the 20s - 30s XX century. These processes are considered to be a part of drastic modernization of agricultural production which changed the existing system of economic and social relations. The reference to unpublished sources can form an adequate idea of the real nature and the objective dynamics of organized migration processes which developed within the framework of the government's policy into total collectivization.

The article analyzes the data on the work of universities on the territory of the Stavropol region at the beginning of the war (1941), shows the change of their network due to evacuation of the universities of Leningrad, Dnepropetrovsk and other cities of the USSR (1941-1942) in the region, provides information on the activities of universities during the Nazi occupation (August 1942 - February 1943), describes the events associated with the restoration of the higher education system in the region in 1943-1945.

The article discusses the history of interaction between customs authorities and the police in tackling smuggling. Special attention is paid to the practice of bringing police to work together at the customs border and the customs supervision in border cities of the Far Eastern Republic. The article touches upon the issues of interaction including using the capabilities of the intelligence apparatus in the fight against biological resources smuggling. The article studies the reasons of dreadful confrontation between belief systems of domiciled and nomadic population. One of the elements of this ideological opposition is taboo on agriculture, which is typical of some archaic cultures in Ancient Near East and Mesoamerica. Abstract

With the reference to «Theodosian Code» and other sources the article studies the powers of the magister officiorum as the head of the late Roman secret service, which in fact carried out functions of the state secret police. According to the late Roman Imperial legislation the Master was directly responsible for the formation of these departments, maintaining the register of the service and the current management. The ofice under the Master consisted of special government agents referred to in the «Theodosian Code» as agentes in rebus. The agents carried out state control and supervision in late Roman provinces, thereby ensuring the safety and order in the Empire.

The article studies daily life of provincial intelligentsia in 1930s with the reference to Stavropol and North Caucasus areas. The influence of Stalin epoch of «Great crisis» on daily life of intelligentsia is analyzed. The impact of mobilization economy and repressive policy during the first five-year plans are examined. The reasons for interaction and confrontation of authority and intelligentsia are shown.

Abstract

The article studies the position of the leading liberal Moscow magazine «Russkaya mysl» on the situation on the Balkan Peninsula in the first half of 1903. The magazine took the position that cooperative actions of Russia and Austria-Hungary could stop the escalation of the conflict in Macedonia and in other regions of the peninsula and also improve the conditions of Slavic population in the Ottoman Empire.

Abstract
This article examines the original concept of the political history of Abkhazia in the first half of the XIX century which was reconstructed by means of qualitative analysis of a well-known narrative source - «Memories» by G. I. Philipson. The author minutely analyzes relevant evaluative conclusions by the Russian general which refer to Abkhaz politicians, social processes in the region, and the specific characteristics of interaction between local communities and the tsar administration. Particular attention is paid to the personal characteristics of the ruling princes, personal qualities which had a direct impact on the real nature and objective dynamics of imperial incorporation.

Abstract

News of foreigners who visited the Russian State in XVI - XVII centuries attracted explorers due to their evaluations and interpretations of Russian history events, often considerably different from similar data in Russian sources. The analysis of reflections related to the neighbors of Moscow tsardom - Crimean Tatars, is of great interest as the Russian State had to wage continuous wars with them. Information about those wars, and the attitude of Crimean Tatars to them we find in the works of such famous foreigners like G. Fletcher, J. Margeret, I. Massa etc.

This article discusses one of the most important issues of civil proceedings - revision entered into force court acts in the order of cassation. The Rule of Law is initially analyzed with the reference to historical changes and transformations, and then synthesized with modern realities. The article focuses on identifying the peculiarities of covering the referendum on the status of the Crimea in May 2014 by Russian-speaking users in VKontakte social network. The analysis of texts, illustrations, audio and video content of open group «Crimea» in VKontakte social network for the period of 1-17 March 2014 revealed that the administration and members of the community primarily took the Pro-Russian position.

The article studies peculiar features of aesthetic-communicative senses in poetic texts. The key factors of realizing the deep aesthetic sense at the stage of text formation are the language norm, functional stylistic and genre features, situational character of text formation, idea and aesthetic intention, individual author's cognitive evaluative system; at the stage of perception these are temporal framework of text formation and perception, recipient's intentions, idea and aesthetic images and their resonance, or the lack of the latter as regards the idea and aesthetic purpose of the text.

The article is devoted to the problem of prosody of native language, resulting from the interaction of phonetic systems of native and non-native languages in bilingual speech while learning a foreign language, that is, in a situation of artificial (classroom) multilingualism. The article studies the main ways of preserving a pragmatic dominant within the process of German-Russian translation of advertizing messages. Challenges in achieving adequate perlocution effect are preconditioned, first of all, not by verbalization systems diversity only but differences in linguocultural code, and therefore the changes are to be introduced not only at the level of formal text expression, but also as regards those archetypic representations which are the cornerstone of the advertizing message.

The article studies the peculiarities of character's personal evaluative modus as regards text realization in the novel by the famous Austrian writer Marlen Haushofer «Die Wand» (The Wall). In psychological prose the central role belongs to the character and his speech acts which are presented by inner speech referred to as a means of expressing self-reflection. The psychological type of narration in the novel under consideration can be defined as the character's evaluative-qualificative perception of different facts of reality realized by a complex of linguistic means in inner represented speech.

The author provides several semantic groups of images of the past in columns of «Literaturnaya gazeta» and defines the dominant. These images reflect the perception of the history of modern publicists. The author proves the thesis that the similarity of the images of the past from different columnists is no coincidence.
