Abstract

The article discusses the relationships between district councils of south-eastern Russia and the government in 1913 - 1917. The author examines the mission, forms and types of activities of local institutions, as well as the specifics of their relationships with governmental agencies of different levels. The author studies the process, features and mechanisms of relations between government bodies and local authorities in such specific region as the south-east of Russia. The experience accumulated by district councils before and during the First World War is summarized.

The article deals with scientific dynasties which existed in our country and contributed to the development of its scientific and intellectual potential. The authors describe some of the Russian academic dynasties which produced outstanding talents throughout several generations. Some of them are the dynasties of the Struves, the Beketovs, the Lyapunovs, the Vorontsovs, the Skrjabins and others.

The article highlights the status of the Holy See in the international arena as the oldest sovereign subject of international law. Unlike nation-states, whose international personality is based on territorial sovereignty, the Holy See possesses a spiritual sovereignty, which makes its international status unique. Based on the study of international agreements, the arch of canon law of the Roman Catholic Church and the Holy See documents, the article examines the specificity of participation of the Holy See in international relations at different levels.

One of the leading political and cultural centers of Renaissance Italy was the city of Florence at the end of the XV-th century. It became a field for reform activities of a Dominican monk Girolamo Savonarola. Dominican's preaching was a primary means of communication and a way of influence on the congregation. The article is devoted to the analysis of the specifics of the ancient heritage representation in Girolamo's public speeches.

Two main lexical-thematic groups have been found out: «money» and the lexical-thematic group of words denoting processes and phenomena of financial, economic and bank activities. The article analyzes the translation of the poem «Dream» made by V.V. Nabokov. Nabokov endowed this poem with a special semantic status assigning him the role of a semantic key to the novel «The Hero of Our Time». The focus of the article is an analysis of Nabokov's interpretation of the poem "Dream" and its translation into English.

The paper analyzes the changes of philosophical discourse which are typical of contemporary intellectual situation and viewed through the lens of transformation of scientific rationality and intellectual practices in general. It is noted that in contemporary culture the field of rationality has been expanding and there has been a steady trend of changing the format of philosophical discourse in the direction of literature and literary criticism. The author proves the idea that the modern philosophical discourse is characterized by fundamental differences in comparison with the classical standards of philosophical rationality.
