FEATURES OF LEGAL POSITION OF CONSUMERS IN CLASSICAL ROMAN LAW

Abstract

The rules that protect consumers could be traced back to Roman law. Later they were supplemented and modified, and now they are reflected in modern law of foreign countries and Russian law. Roman law regulated in detail the rights of the buyer and the seller’s obligations in case of defects of goods sold. Roman law manifests the features of the legal position of consumers, which are inherent in modern consumer legislation, arising from the liability of the seller for inadequate quality of goods and for selling goods that have hidden defects, as well as the buyer’s right to receive truthful information about the product
