Abstract

The article is devoted to general characteristics, history and architectural features of the boundary stelae that surrounded the ancient Egyptian city Akhetaten during the reign of the pharaoh Akhenaten (1355 - 1338 BC). We consider the political and religious preconditions of their establishment. Considerable attention is paid to the study of distinctive features, iconography and the role of the boundary stelae in forming a new state ideology.
